Chester-born pianist Sally Wigan has performed across the UK, Switzerland and Hungary in such prestigious venues as Wigmore Hall, Symphony Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Kings Place Concert Hall and the Franz Liszt Concert Hall in Budapest. Sally has been selected as a Park Lane Group (PLG) Young Artist for the past three consecutive years and her appearance at the Purcell Room for the PLG's 2013 series won her critical acclaim.

Chester-born pianist Sally Wigan has performed across the UK, Switzerland and Hungary in such prestigious venues as Wigmore Hall, the Purcell Room, Symphony Hall Birmingham, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Kings Place Concert Hall and the Franz Liszt Concert Hall in Budapest. Sally has been selected as a Park Lane Group (PLG) Young Artist for the past three consecutive years, to great critical acclaim.
A dedicated exponent of twentieth-century and contemporary repertoire, Sally has worked with such composers as John McCabe, Judith Weir and Arlene Sierra. To date Sally has won numerous awards including third prize in the Ninth British Contemporary Piano Competition in 2013, the 2009 Frank Merrick Prize in the RCM Contemporary Piano Competition and the 2007 Birmingham Chamber Music Society & Derek Young Memorial Award with a performance of Messiaen's 'Quatour pour la fin du temps'. Sally was also awarded runner-up prize in the piano section of the 2008 Performing Australian Music Competition, which led to her performances and keen involvement in the 'Celebrating Grainger' week at Kings Place in 2011.
Sally studied with Kalman Drafi at the Franz Liszt Academy, Budapest, as winner of the 2009 Joseph Weingarten Scholarship. Prior to this she gained her Masters degree from the Royal College of Music in 2009 under Andrew Ball's tuition, with a programme of English twentieth-century works for her final recital. Sally attained first class Honours in her Bachelor's degree from Birmingham Conservatoire in 2007 with Margaret Newman, graduating with the highest mark for a pianist in her year.
