Reiko Fujisawa brings a unique musical voice to the concert platform, blending the clarity and discipline of her Eastern heritage with the expressive richness of Western classical tradition. A graduate of the Musashino University of Music in Tokyo, she pursued advanced studies in London under the guidance of Martino Tirimo, Benjamin Kaplan, and Yonty Solomon, establishing her artistic home in the UK.
Her debut at London’s Southbank Centre marked the beginning of a flourishing performance career, followed by appearances at many of the UK’s most prestigious venues, including Wigmore Hall and Cadogan Hall, where she has performed both as a soloist and chamber musician. A committed and versatile artist, she has collaborated with leading ensembles such as the Soloists of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Carducci String Quartet.
Reiko has been invited to major festivals and cultural events, including the acclaimed Japan 2001 Festival, where she performed with Ensemble Tōzai—an innovative group uniting Western and traditional Japanese instruments. Her programming often reflects her imaginative curatorial approach, as seen in projects like Clara 2019, celebrating the life and legacy of Clara Schumann, and Nature and Music, a series highlighting works by women composers and modern masters, united by a reverence for the natural world.
As a recording artist, Reiko has received wide praise for her interpretations of Bach, Beethoven, and Schubert. Her album featuring these composers was described by The Arts Desk as “irresistible,” while her performance of Bach’s Goldberg Variations was lauded by Japan’s Record Geijutsu for its elegance and refinement.
