Iain Dixon began his professional career with the BBC Big Band, where he stayed for eight years before becoming a freelance player on the London music scene. He has played both in the UK and internationally as a member of jazz groups led by Julian Arguelles, Nikki Iles, Dave Green, Mike Walker, Alan Barnes, Charlie Watts, Dave Newton and Clarke Tracey, as well as leading his own bands. As a session player, Iain has appeared on many albums with artists as diverse as Mark Hollis, Joni Mitchell, Primal Scream and the Spice Girls, and has been a featured soloist on numerous film soundtracks including The Talented Mr Ripley. Following a UK tour with Michael Brecker, Iain was invited to New York in 2003 to record the album Wide Angles. As a member of Bryan Ferry’s band for over ten years, Iain has completed three world tours and numerous album recordings. He currently teaches jazz improvisation at Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music.

Les Chisnall has worked with some of the worlds finest Jazz musicians, including Kenny Wheeler, John Taylor, Mike Walker & Ian Ballamy to name but a few. Recent projects have included an album with Neil Yates ‘New Origins’. Throughout his career composition has been central to his musical life, especially in the contemporary classical field. Having studied composition with Paul Mitchel-Davidson and Bill Connor, Les has written music for orchestra, piano, organ and particularly for choir which has always been a natural medium for him since his days as a chorister. Parallel to his career as a Jazz pianist and composer Les has been an active teacher for the past 17 years. His currently teaches at Chetham’s School of Music and LIPA.

Iain and Les have played together for many years. In this particular collaboration they are seeking to combine their shared interest in jazz, classical music and composition.
